catching up...slightly

Spiff$ ./expected_unexpected

You know how it is. I hope! Well my friends, how was your holiday weekend (if you celebrated)? I love fire, I love loud noise and I like chaos so I'm all for the 4th of July celebrations! My holiday weekend was FAN-fucking-TASTIC! Tell me about yours, please! Either ghetto fireworks, backyard parties/fireworks or propa city fireworks I've always had a good always have a good time - what was your scene? I didn’t get to see _everyone_ over this holiday "run" but I trust and know all you peeps enjoyed yourselves - I'd expect nothing less.

Before I get to the 4th I had to complete my task list. The only
items I could not do were "oil change" since my car is being rebuilt,
hopefully! I was unable to meet up with Neeko. Both of us are "uber" busy,
it's all good though. We'll keep up the constant emails, txt messages and
random phone calls. Hopefully you picked up your wife and saved the day. I hope her car is ok - crazy! I didn’t get a chance to record the set I've worked on nor did I have a chance to play it for someone’s ears. I want to, maybe this weekend? I got a lot of items completed though, thinking and acting positive! Woot-woot!

Ohh... and this "how I met Burger" shit. It's going, ya know? I don’t feel like repeating this story again. You've seen the pictures. Kid blows through a yield, I have right-away. Kid hits me and now insurance companies handle all the bullshit, the technicalities and bureaucracies. If you want to know the real-e-dill-e email me.

Now I can translate my private thoughts.

Notes from Friday:

Early morning wake n cook ;-) -> afternoon activities of news reading,
coffee and general laziness -> cookout at my brothers' apartment complex for the afternoon. Good food and enjoyable conversations with elderly people. One lady in particular named M. She's been around the US, living a few months to years in certain areas with plenty of stories to tell - only if you listened attentively (which I'm good at). Another thing that amazed me was her stories; she lived in my area in 1960’s and moved about the US until she decided to spend her "golden" days in the valley - her home. Her stories about civil rights struck me the most, her experiences help me relate to modern day issues / problems - thanks for sharing! It was a good feeling to wholeheartedly pay attention to a stranger; intrigued by their stores and how it's touched them - you see this through their body language and emotions, I saw it.

Me belly full and me-NOT hungry.

I think I can get a few games of FIFA 2005 before I pick up Joy.
Even virtually, I can not get Man U to win the FA Cup - fuckers. I'm excited
for next year; World Cup 2006 in Germany. I _may_ be there!

BBBBBBBBBBBBBring...

Joy and I decided on a nice dinner, fish (fresh), beans and couscous. Yum!
She knows her way around the kitchen, I'm impressed and glad. I'm saying, who wouldn’t like a woman who knows her way around a kitchen? Come on... I'm sure women don’t / wouldn’t mind a guy who could cook her a meal - works both ways. Give what you get right?

Off to the bar.

Dive bars are fun when you're raging it up with the boys ya feel meh? Somewhat cheap beers, games that usually don’t work plus a mediocre Jukebox - no high tech shit. No Rhapsody Jukebox... O well. I will say that my interest in DB's ends when the beer (the heady shizzz) isn’t cold or below room temperature. Luke-warm Guinness's are the worst....so bad it was enough to get us to change our location. Back to the haunt (as of late) the Palm's. Could this be another night of breaking into cars? Well, they leave the doors unlocked... A few drinks and a 6pack to go -> possible late night record spinning.

Before the late night scene started, we stopped to the backyard on the rock. Our conversations seem to get deeper each and every time we have verbal vomit, our bond growing closer. Enjoyable. We lit a dried up philly of cotton candy and consumed a few buuurs. Enjoyable with a great segue into Saturday…

Notes from Saturday:

Another heady breakfast on the porch segued into Wimbledon game. Did you know that the Williams vs. Davenport match we watched was the longest in Wimbledon history? I think it's the most memorable women’s tennis match I've watched this year (or in a really long time - I don’t remember any good matches from the French Open). I told you, baked beans and eggs are the shizzz.

-> Responsibilities.

Well, I got the house stuff figured out plus I got the keys. Brian came with
us on a brief journey for keys and childish actions at K-Mart. We checked
the house in the daytime, I gave a mini-tour. I shared the possibilities of
my new place and thoughts about the future in spotty detail. We'll make it as we see fit. It's my decision and I'm happy with it, each and every word/detail that comes out of my mouth. Do I have perma-grin - for the most part, yes! I feel very good about my living situation and my life plus what's in-store for me in the future. I'm closer to work, closer to the city and excited about every possibility I can think of and/or don’t see.

"On this road...Travel"

Drive.
Time for a scenic drive to the mountains; 7 Springs. No, make that 6 springs since one of the springs broke - haha. So, we arrive at 7 Springs with ambition and a bit of hunger. We walk around in bewilderment taking in the sites and the people. It felt like an acid trip, walking around in amazement of the people, details and country living, poking our heads around various places. Plus it was Polka 4th of July - Old geezers walking around, smoking and drinking… hardcore (for older white men – no offense). Unfortunately we missed the last ski lift to the top plus we missed the toboggan ride down - maybe another time – I’d like to try again!

"On this road...Travel"

Drive.
Time for another scenic drive; this time we're driving from the mountains into the valley. Once again we arrived with ambition and a bit of hunger. We decided to construct a coffee fire and make smores. THANK YOU Java Log. Another night of conversations that were deep, emotional, childish and humorous while slightly intoxicated.

-> Movie

I, yes, I watched a good movie; High Fidelity. What about you? I realized something _very_ important when I slept that night. Ask me how the movie was and my thoughts about the night, I dare you! You know, for a while I felt like I.Raymond – I’m nothing like that patchouli smelling hippy ;-) - I don’t wear patchouli anymore.

Notes from Sunday:

I slept well, not the best. I think I got below the 10 hour sleep requirement plus I broke the 10am bet - le sigh. However, it was good to wake up early. I got to watch Andy Roddick get his “A” game demoted, again. I was eager to watch a repeat of the Wimbledon Men's Championship from 04. Maybe I'll take those statements back when I dissed on Roger. His game really impressed me, seriously. I wasn’t cheering for him either, I _wanted_ Andy to win. But, Roger's game (on grass at least) was tight. His game, skill and versatile talent won me over. We'll see what happens during the US Open and the US 'hardcourt series'

And so...

Another heady breakfast -> Tennis -> Jog -> Shower -> Movies

War of the Worlds.

Have you heard the original 1938 audio? Talk about scary shit - my imagination putting my back to ‘38’ with the radio as my entertainment. I have a radio from that era at my house and believe me, hearing a story such as this would’ve scared the shit out of me! Click HERE for a link to the original 1938 broadcast. Have you seen the 1953 movie? Click HERE for info. The movie is somewhat cheesy but it’s 1953 man, they were making sci-fi back then without the Steven Spielberg budget. You know what, the 1953 movie fuckin ROCKED. I’d rather watch THAT movie again rather than the bullshit I saw on Sunday. I should not diss too much though since the movie wasn’t THAT bad. I’m sayin, they changed up some events from the book and previous movie but it seemed to lack something… The acting, specifically Dakota Fleming’s was spot on. I liked her in the “Taken”, another alien movie. Tom Cruise… fuck off man. They should’ve let Tim Robbins rock the whole movie hahaha. Maybe I’ll feel satisfaction once they complete the supposed trilogy of WOTW. Yes, I said it, Trilogy. Here. Don’t believe the hype or believe it. We’ll see ya know…

Stimulants. I like them, a lot! Not the Crystal-Meth kind either! I like the crack Starbucks serves; hot, iced or in a can – tweak. Plus it’s a good cure for ADHD. Errr.. maybe it induces ADHD behavior. I’m glad I got to see another side of Joy, hopped up on coffee, tweak. I’m glad I got to hear your true thoughts. I have no reason or motivation to get you “acting” different / propa. “Be yourself is all that you can do” – told you it was sick. Be a kid, be a lover, be a friend – be happy. Perma-grin or “dealing” just be yourself with me/us, with life.

Movie -> Dinner?

“I’m hungry”

My favorite Sushi house wasn’t open, le sigh. Maybe on Friday I’ll go to Chaya and then to Jerry’s for some new vinyl. Anyways, our quest for Sushi led us to a new eatery, Nakama. Pretty decent place… Our bellies were full but I’m hungry

Dinner -> Beer

“we need beer”

I’d seriously recommend getting the Sierra Nevada Summerfest – HEADY! I’m glad she likes this beer; it’s my favorite (Sierra Nevada labels) no matter how many other beers I drink. Just looking at their webpage has my taste buds excited.

Beer -> late night scene

Once again, back on the rock. All smiles all easy. Our goal for Sunday night was to learn how to spin records, I’m teaching. It’s not as easy as you’d think. It’s not as easy as it seems. Amazing how 2 turntables and a mixer require a lot of attention (the details: pitch, cue points, speed). I’d recommend not drinking or smoking while learning even though I usually do exactly that! I’m not Paul Oakenfold, I’m not 47. I have some skill though, enough to educate another on the fine points and basics of “spinning out”. It takes patience to learn, allotted time for practice and a small budget for vinyl. I’m glad I’m able to share experiences and skills I’ve learnt over the years. Sharing is good. Practice make one better, is that how it goes? 3:30am and the beats are still going… heartbeats this time.

Notes from Monday:

WOOT WOOT – it’s the fourth!

We continued our “vacation” and ventured back to the city. I think both of us needed R & R, rest and relaxation this time around - Moments of “bed magic”, game shows, cuddle conversations and a much needed nap. It’s not my fault, well maybe this one time…

We woke up refreshed and charged; eager to have eye-candy displayed for us, eager to interact in the chaos plus we’re hungry! $19 dollars for a hotdog, fries and a drink - UN-heady beer, body heat from smelly people, moral-lacking juveniles and a huge blanket to carry. Fun. Why, because I have someone to enjoy my time with, my experiences. Shared and memorable. Unexpected also fits propa. I never had intentions on spending time with Joy over the weekend. I felt content on spinning records, cleaning my homes and str8 chillin, gutta style. “Expect nothing; get everything” the motto of the weekend. It’s funny how events work out, why they happen and how they happen – for a reason? I know the logic.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM

It’s started… we’re in the wrong spot!

The kaleidoscope of heads and eyes looking up into the heavens, waiting to catch a glimpse – BOOOM. Fireworks fuckin rock! Camera’s clicking, phones pointed to the light, funny. I noticed 15 people around us all pointing their phones to the sky trying to capture decent pictures. We’re part of that… we’re part of our memories and the memories of others. Snap. Time to develop those memories, thoughts and captured experiences. Integration, progression and keeping our heads and eyes looking up into the heavens and into the future. Thank you.

-> Work.

Spiff$ ./I_want_more

This was one of the most memorable holiday weekends for me. No one passed out, blacked out or tripped out! Unexpected and _very_ enjoyable – time well spent. Honestly, it wasn’t “hardcore” ya know; no long nights of clubbing, no raging parties or debauchery (not counting the few attempts to steal a car). It was normal time for abnormal people. I realize the “same old same old” might be better than “hardcore” nights. I’m sayin; BOTH have the sweet, both have the sour. Is it what you make of “it”? If so, I’ve made the most of “it”, of her… I don’t take our time for granted, especially considering this weekend wasn’t supposed to happen this way (expect nothing; get everything). Plus we said a propa “see you soon”.

My words or actions should not induce nervousness or fright. Think about the cut off in my dialect. Maybe you’d have to spend more time with me to really understand. Maybe you’re learning right now… I know what I've learnt over time has changed me, shaped me and pushed me forward. I like my scene, I like your scene. This weekend I had a chance to see how it could be, how it is. I only hope you understand what I'm saying.

I speak my tongue from experience and stance in life and relationships (romantic and friendly). My tongue might be hard to understand at times, especially in my round-about banter-speak I’m known for. Does it have meaning and validity, hell yeah! Would I say those things, speak my thoughts if I didn’t believe in them? No. I believe, I have faith and I enjoy making promises. So what you hear from my mouth, what you hear from my heart and mind are legit. No lies, no bullshit. Is it hard to swallow, probably! Do you want to hear it? Hopefully! All we can do in our lives is be honest / keep it honest.

I’ve been honest with Joy. I’ll keep it real/honest; ask if you don’t believe me or if you want to know more! I’m honest with myself, I can be nothing other! I have too much respect for myself and others to be anything other than honest and truthful. I’ve been honest with those who pass through my life – leaving their mark or taking a piece of my heart - Friends, family, acquaintances and lovers…

Thank you!
