So it starts...
Network outages aren't as peachy as I'd like, not when you're switching over 3 T1 lines. Blah. This is going to suck, slightly.
I can see Samba being a pain in my ass. Plus the routing... god, that's going to be a chore. We'll have to bridge the connections between 2 offices once again, which was a pain. During this "bridging" process I've realized I dont like Cisco products - and yet they're everywhere. Thats me though, the network admin that hates networks ;-) - seriously though, this shouldnt be too bad. I have my notes from our last outage and I've learned from our last experience. Plus I'm fairly knowledgeable... Who knows what I'll learn this time around!
-remember samba code to rejoin server to network
-change dns on production servers
-add gateway on routers
-reconfigure dhcp server
-check website and other network resources from outside company ip-range
-tidy up random network and system issues before going live again
Yeah... it seems easy in theory, action-wise may tell another story. We'll see... 8 years of this shit and I still love it! So, Verizon, show me what you got!
I love what I do by the way, I'm geeky like that - I've spent the last 8 years of my life working in IT and I've yet to lose any love for it. I'm very passionate about IT and technology, maybe I dont express that enough but I'm rather involved with technology - at work - at home - in my life. But I know when to leave work behind, at work...
And tomorrow I'll be
sittin sideways on my drive to the
84 Lumber Classic... boyz in a daze. A nice 2 hour drive to catch some sick golf - I cant wait! This is my first time going to a PGA event and I dont know what to expect, except I'll probably pay 8 dollars for a pint! I think I'm going to tail Phil or Vijay tomorrow... ohh and whisky drinking, cigarette smoking John Daly - cant forget about him!
I found out that I can not bring camera, cell phone or _something_ (which I cant remember) into the club and onto the golf course. So, not pictures, just my photographic memory to recreate my experiences.
At least I'm off, leaving the technical issues of work far behind me...as I'm sittin sideways ;-)
here we go!
