a few days of proper rest and relaxation does wonders. i'm happy
...and well rested
a few nights in pittsburgh, then dc, and back to pittsburgh for another night of fun.

over the years i've grown used to the underground scenes in various cities, which isnt a bad thing. i've always thought on what it would be like to visit and enjoy cities as a normal, fanny pack wearing tourist (not that i would wear one of those things). diesel bag, maybe.
after a power nap, or two, it was time to explore the potential of the metro.
the metro is the greatest thing. correction, proper public transportation is the greatest. no car, no problem. want to have a drink or two, no problem. need quick and reliable access, no problem. want to take the family out for a day of sight seeing and exploration, no problem.
i'm thinking of moving. in the future. plan
friday, we ended up in the area of George Washington University / Foggy Bottom
. after a few twists and turns we settled into a narrow but comforting pub;
Lindy's"did you know it's her birthday?"the barkeep, jim, he runs a good shop. he made us feel right at home; tellings us good eats, record stores, pubs... and what's the best time to see certain monuments. turns out he's knowledgeable on physiology....errr, he reads what drunk college kids leave at the bar. yeah, that's it. Jim reminded me of an old friend of mine, Don, The Wizard.
drinks. new friends
3 way; 2 women and 1 guy. lucky guy... or lucky girl? alcohol easily brings out a few interesting 'things' in our personality, especially when it's tequila talking and touching. must've been that ravishing dress she wore.
more new friends. drinks
...and yes, i know the secret mom-and-pop ice cream parlor off of Forbes. and thanks for the compliments; it's a cool Incline with a beautiful view of the city, no doubt!
a few chats about football and why Lindy's is the greatest spot, loudly singing 80's tunes, shots (no Jager) and free beer. good times, thanks people! cheers
drunken m riding: safe. wobbly. loud. photographic.
a few wrong steps an turns and we're nearly there. a few words and we're nearly apart.
saturday rising late in the afternoon. pool side breakfast please
Holocaust Museum was the main stop. and honestly, i'm rather speechless in regards to what i saw. what i felt.
a tourist.

another spot,
Ben's Chili Bowl. a staple of a dc diet? yeah, i'd go back. again. and again
U street had the scene. slightly shady but busy. uptown stylee
more m riding and exploring. one destination...
and later in the night, back out for more food. overpriced
"pepperoni, hurry up with the pepperoni". rude bastards. chill peoples, seriously. a bit of drink and you're ready to cause a stir due to a slightly busy chef.
and the chill scene for saturday night. chillin like villians, or
Goodfellas.
one last day to take it in. but really, there's no way i can take-in all the sights. not on my time, no way. no complaints. every moment was well spent and enjoyable.
"too many sights, too little time". what the sign says is how i felt.
lunch at a nice outdoor cafe and a stop for a smoke and espresso. time to go
and i normally drive, which i dont mind. but this drive home, great. plenty of time to think on things. cutting through the mountains; leaves falling, breeze blowing (shaking the car), dusk,
AVB pumping through the speakers... intense. thanks to my many "road buddies" we made it home earlier than expected. not that being home was the most anticipated thing either. being with her for a few days was the most anticipated thing. yeah, that's it.
